Learn how to develop a syllabus

Graduate students and PostDocs will learn how to develop a syllabus, manage time in the classroom, and plan content for the semester.

Guest Facilitators: Dr. Linda Hodges, Director, and Dr. Ann Garner, Assistant Director, UMBC Faculty Development Center.

Dr. Linda C. Hodges was the Director of the Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Center for Teaching and Learning at Princeton University from 2003-2009 before retiring to Maryland. She holds a doctorate in biochemistry from the University of Kentucky and was a faculty member for over 20 years before transitioning into faculty development.

Dr. Ann Garner served as a teaching consultant for five years at the Center for Teaching and Faculty Development at the University of Massachusetts Amherst before joining the UMBC Faculty Development Center in 2012. She recently earned a Ph.D. in English from UMass Amherst and has extensive experience in the theater as an actor and director. She has taught a wide range of courses and has consulted with faculty across disciplines on pedagogy and effective use of technology.

This is a “Brown Bag” seminar. Please bring your own lunch.
